WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER RADIOFREQUENCY OF TONGUE BASE

It is normal to have moderate pain for the first few days following the procedure. You will be given a prescription for pain medication the day of your procedure.  Difficulty swallowing is common for a few hours after the procedure until the local anesthetic wears off. Be very cautious when eating for the first night after the procedure as the tongue may be swollen which increases the odds of accidental biting. Cool liquids and ice can help relieve swelling and pain during healing. Speech may be slightly slurred for a short time after the procedure. This is common due to the numbness from the local anesthetic, and the swelling combined and will return to normal.

CONTACT OUR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS:

  • Fever of 101 degrees or higher
  • Difficulty breathing
