Dr. Michael Paparella
Dr. Michael Paparella, our founder, took his B.S. and M.D. at the University of Michigan. After serving in Europe, he became a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, then at Ohio State University. From 1967 to 1984, he chaired the University of Minnesota’s Department of Otolaryngology, leaving to found this clinic. He has actively practiced otology (care of ears) and otolaryngology (ears, head and neck) for 40-plus years and remains active in research and education. He has authored/edited over 600 scientific publications and 63 books, including many on the topics of Meniere’s disease and chronic ear infection. He has also trained 300 ENT doctors including 28 Professors and Chairmen.

Dr. Oleg Froymovich
Dr. Oleg Froymovich received his B.S. from Columbia University in 1984 and his M.D. from Mount Sinai Medical School in 1988. After internship and residency training in general surgery, he finished his residency in otolaryngology at SUNY Buffalo in 1993 and a fellowship in otology and neurotology at the Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute in 1994. Now a partner at our clinic, he is board certified in otolaryngology and has special interest in sinus disease, endoscopic sinus surgery, management of disorders of the voice, and hearing, sleep and balance medicine. He has published many peer-reviewed articles and presented courses on such work at meetings of the American Academy of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Markus Gapany
Dr. Markus Gapany received his medical degree from the Hebrew University - Hadassah Medical School. He took his surgery training at SUNY - Downstate Medical Center, and otolaryngology - head and neck surgery training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, which he completed in 1991. In 1992, he completed his fellowship training in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and the same year joined the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Gapany is board certified in adult and pediatric otolaryngology (ENT) as well as head and neck tumor and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of American Society of Head and Neck Surgeons. He is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota and Chief of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Dr. Gapany's expertise includes head and neck tumor surgery, reconstructive and plastic surgery of head, neck and face as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Special expertise includes minimally invasive, micro-vascular and laser surgery as well as implantation of vagus nerve stimulator device (VNS) for epilepsy and depression.

Dr. Norman Berlinger
Dr. Norman Berlinger received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then received extensive post-graduate training in both otolaryngology and internal medicine at the University of Minnesota, the Sloan-Kettering Institute and Memorial Hospital for Cancer in New York City, and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Returning to Minneapolis, he enjoyed an active academic practice at the University of Minnesota and a community practice in the Minneapolis suburbs, specializing in pediatric and otologic problems. Dr. Berlinger also obtained a graduate degree in counseling psychology in order to better care for patients with emotional components to their illness. He has made a specialty of treating and rehabilitating patients with tinnitus.

Dr. Chandler Marietta

Dr. Chandler Marietta graduated Summa cum laude from Western Michigan University, where he was fortunate to be the recipient of the University's prestigious Medallion Scholarship. Prior to medical school, he worked as an Ethics Associate in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his Medical Degree with a Distinction in Research and completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Dr. Marietta practices in all realms of ENT and has special interests in Ear Surgery including Cochlear Implantation, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Nasal Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, and Facial Plastics. Dr. Marietta's interests extend globally as well to developing countries and include medical missions, education, and building sustainable relationships with local physicians/surgeons. Dr. Marietta, his wife and three children live in Minneapolis. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys traveling, running, golf, films and music.
